Bioengineer, Christian is a Life Sciences multi-entrepreneur with substantial experience in natural products and technologies applied to the agricultural, biotech, cosmetic, food and pharmaceutical sectors.

Passionate leader with wide-ranging scientific and financial skills, applied within a multicultural context (Europe, USA, Asia and Africa), he was the founder and CEO of the Green industrial holding Biofirst, subsidiary of the listed company Floridienne Group. He managed different companies in natural products as well as in the biotechnology sector. He is also an active member of companies involved in the use of nature as an alternative to chemicals (Biobest, Aquatic Sciences).

Dimitri MOREELS

CEO & FOUNDER

Starting his career in the financial world, Dimitri quickly evolved towards commercial responsibilities in the nutraceutical and natural science industry.

Founder of several companies in tropical areas active in a wide variety of sectors going from Food & Beverage to cosmetic and healthcare industries, his management skills easily adapted to different work environments and cultures.

Adventurous kingpin passionate about agri-innovation and sustainability, he was also one of the founding fathers of the « Virunga Origins » project, a social initiative in partnership with the Virunga National Park and the World We Want Foundation.

Georges GEERAERTS

General Manager of Sopral

For almost 20 years, Georges is a self-made man who dedicated his career in the security sector in Belgium and Ivory Coast. He then moved to Madagascar to make a vanilla campaign in the SAVA. After a while, he took the lead of Sopral.

He devotes a part of his time to different associations and is the President of the Groupement des Exportateurs de Vanille de Madagascar (GEVM) since 2016, Vice-President of the Centre Technique Horticole de Tamatave (CTHT) and the Centre de Transformation et Conservation des Produits (CTCP) since 2008. He is the representative of the KLBD (kosher certification) for the region. More recently he was chosen to join the National Strategic Council for Vanilla (CNV).

Gaëtan ETANCELIN

Chief Sustainability Officer at Sopral Sustaibility Coordinator at Envirium Life Sciences

19 years of experience, expert in organic and sustainability certification. Led for a decade the strategy of the 100% Malagasy family SME "Huilerie Melville Groupe Savonnerie Tropicale SA" (600 collaborators) 1st Plantation / Palm oil factory in Africa to be triply certified Organic Agriculture and Sustainable Development. Technical Advisor to Malagasy ministers since 2020 (Environment and sustainable Development / New Cities and Housing) Elected President of “SYMABIO” (2017 to 2021).

He contributed to the Malagasy organic regulation process, the first francophone Sub-Saharan country to have adopted legislation on Organic Agriculture (2020). He is also funding member of ISAN in 2020 (IFOAM Southern Africa Network: 11 countries). Natural entrepreneurial leader as a board member of Think Tank Malagasy “INDRI” (2021) he wants to rise “ Generation Restoration”.

Florence POUËSSEL

Florence Pouëssel is an agricultural engineer, specialized in soils and environment. She started her career as an environmental officer in the French Chamber of Agriculture. After 8 years, she moved to Madagascar for a project in the Southern region for the French Cooperation.

Afterwards, she experienced different activities in Madagascar such as aquaculture (shrimp) and vanilla plantation for the private sector. Before joining Sopral in 2011, Florence was Environmental manager for the most important mining project in the country. She was also in charge of the Food safety for that multi thousand people company.

Florence is now Sopral’s COO (Chief Operating Officer) after having had responsibilities in the purchases and productions. All along her career, Florence was keen to contribute to a responsible agriculture that respects the environment and to provide fair revenues for all stakeholders of the supply chain. At the heart of her concerns: people in harmony with their environment. At Envirium, she wants to be an active player to limit the impacts of our industrial activities.

Nancy IRWIN, PhD, BSc

Managing Director & Founder of Kamapim Ltd.

Nancy began her career as a scientist working in United Kingdom, Belgium, Australia and in Papua New Guinea (PNG) 27 years ago.

Nancy is a dedicated conservationist and promoter of green growth, working together with landowners to support them protecting their rainforest and finding a sustainable living. She is keen at developing a holistic approach which facilitates banking services, microloans, climate aware planting, environment and conservation management, health, covid-19 awareness and business training.

In the last three years, she has developed agricultural technology, enabled 4,500 people previously “invisible people” to be banked. She leads a consortium that has developed the first digital rural loan for the Pacific that Kamapim staff can deliver remotely through mobile phones.

Nancy works together with government departments to provide regulatory and business training to farmers and to promote PNG sustainable products with the PNG Department of Foreign Affairs.
