KAMAPIM ACHIEVES CACAO-TRACE CERTIFICATION

Posted on :

Just one year after entering the cocoa sector, Kamapim Ltd, subsidiary of Envirium Life Sciences in Papua New Guinea, has achieved Cacao-Trace certification from Puratos. “We are delighted to join a programme that creates lasting value for local communities,” says Varun Kumar Rai, General Manager of Kamapim. “Farmers receive a premium for every kilogram of cocoa sold, while an additional community premium helps improve local living conditions.”

The benefits are already making a difference. The communities of Bom and Suaru from Madang's Bogia District received their 2025 Chocolate Bonus from Puratos for delivering high-quality beans and meeting export volume targets. They chose to invest it in two 9,000-litre water tanks, a vital reserve during the dry season, when fresh water can be scarce for long periods, as it has been this year with El Niño

Papua New Guinea now becomes Envirium’s second Cacao-Trace certified origin, after COPAK in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which strengthens our long-standing partnership with Puratos.

“This approach is fully aligned with our business model: helping local communities build sustainable incomes while protecting their environment,” says Christian Van Osselaer, CEO of Envirium Life Sciences. “Fine cocoa demands strict quality standards at every step of production. This certification recognises the dedication of our teams and the trust of our partner communities.”
