On the night of February 10–11, 2026, the intense tropical cyclone Gezani struck the city of Tamatave (Toamasina) on the east coast of Madagascar. Violent winds (over 300 km/h) and torrential rains destroyed or severely damaged around 75% of the city, causing major destruction to homes and infrastructure.
