A POST-HARVEST CENTER FOR KAMAPIM’S COCOA AND VANILLA
2025 has brought meaningful developments for @Envirium Life Sciences. Building on its long-standing #vanilla production activities,@Kamapim, our subsidiary in Papua New Guinea, has taken a new step forward by launching #cocoa production.
“Developing a second cocoa sourcing, alongside our operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was a key milestone for our Group,”says @Christian Van Osselaer, CEO of Envirium Life Sciences. “Beyond diversification, this new activity creates additional economic opportunities for the farmers we partner with, allowing them to generate greater value from their land. It also opens the door for smallholders from other regions to join Kamapim and embrace our model, which is designed to protect nature and primary forests while sustainably improving livelihoods.”
Today, we are proud to announce the signing of a landmark agreement with the Manam Community, who have granted our organization 2 hectares of land to establish a new center for excellence dedicated to sustainable cocoa and vanilla production. This partnership marks a major step toward strengthening local livelihoods and revitalizing agricultural value chains in the region. The future Post Harvest Center (PHC) is ideally situated and strategically located to facilitate easy access for cocoa farmers: “On this land, we will develop a fully integrated production hub that includes a high-quality plant nursery, supplying farmers with vigorous cocoa, and a state-of-the-art fermentation and processing facility for fine-flavor cocoa. By improving access to planting materials and ensuring world-class post-harvest processing, the center will empower thousands of farmers to produce premium cocoa, increase their incomes, and reliably access national and international markets,”explains @Varun Kumar Rai, General Manager of Kamapim.
This initiative has been strongly supported by our client and partner, @Puratos, which is already involved in the same process with Copak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. “Kamapim is also grateful to Hon. Robert Naguiri, whose commitment to the development of his region is instrumental in bringing long-term solutions for communities affected by displacement. The Manam people know intimately how powerful nature can be,” says Varun Kumar Rai . The eruptions of the Manam volcano displaced families, disrupted livelihoods, and reshaped everyday life for an entire community. “Today, the world faces another profound natural force: climate change. Like the volcano, it threatens homes, agriculture, and stability—though on a global scale and with growing intensity,” regrets Christian Van Osselaer. “Yet nature is not only a source of risk; it is also a source of renewal. Our partnership with the Manam community is a concrete example of this vision: transforming challenges into opportunities, and forging a path where communities and ecosystems thrive together.”
