COPAK Sarl, subsidiary of Envirium Life Sciences, is proud to announce the opening of two post-harvest fermentation centers based in Mwenda and Oïcha in the North Kivu Province (Democratic Republic of Congo). Local authorities, ICCN (Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature) and Virunga Foundation team attended the inaugural ceremonies as well as COPAK’s partners, Le Jardin and COAGES, two local cooperatives who will be managing the centers. This project has been be possible through the support of Virunga Foundation, a key player in the development of the area.

Launched just one year ago, the group has managed to gather over 30,000 farmers in Madagascar, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Papua New Guinea. KAMAPIM Ltd., Envirium’s subsidiary in Papua New Guinea, in partnership with Field Buzz, and Mibank have been able to deliver microloans to farmers through mobile phones. This enables remote rural farmers to access finance directly where they live; breaking down barriers to financial inclusion.

Sumkar District (Province of Madang, Papua New Guinea), 22 April 22. Today’s commemoration of Earth Day will be remembered as a turning point for 20 clans of Adelbert Range Mountain. Gathering and dancing in traditional Sing-Sing celebrations, they officially mark the protection of their territories thanks to conservation deeds. To preserve the rainforest from logging and mining, they decided to partner with Kamapim Ltd. in the sustainable production of high-quality vanilla.

In the centre of the Adelbert Range, 3,775 hectares, are now protected by a conservation deed. A little further up, an additional 5,612 hectares, benefit from the same protection.
