Our Double-Happiness Bean-to-Bar Chocolate is in the spotlight

The Double-Happiness Bean-to-Bar Chocolate is in the spotlight! Check this paper published in L’Echo. Virunga Chocolate is a single-origin, Bean-to-Bar chocolate, manufactured and packaged locally, using only beans that are grown by the small-holder farming communities bordering the Virunga National Park, in the DRC.

Envirium Life Sciences and its subsidiary Copak are proud to be part of the Virunga Origins project together with The World We Want Foundation, Mathieu Brees and Dominique Persoone, Belgian chocolatier who trained the Virunga Origins team in the fine art of chocolate and formulated our exquisite recipe.

All profits are reinvested into the conservation of the Park and the surrounding communities. Besides the pleasure of tasting, each bite helps creating more value for the farmers, the rangers and the gorillas. That’s what we call Double Happiness!

In the DRC, the success of this chocolate was beyond our expectations: in the first year, all the production intended for export was sold locally. Seeing how much the Congolese population wanted to help by purchasing Virunga Origins products was great news. We therefore extended the production and the chocolate is now available on https://origins.virunga.org/shop/ as well as in some stores in Belgium, Sweden and Denmark. This type of project is the DNA of Envirium Life Sciences. We strongly believe that in addition to exporting, we must create value in the country we work and allocate the profits to the local population and the environment.
